It has a matt, black finish with display panel in between ‘Source Select’ and ‘Volume’ knob. The GUI display has an eye-pleasing light grey that matches the dark grey buttons.

The front panel design is similar to the rest of current Denon models. The Power Button sits subtly on the left and you will find the headphone jack just below it as well. You will also find Quick Select and Preset Channel buttons closer to the middle.

The Auxiliary Inputs and the Setup Mic is further right. There are also quick access buttons just below display panel. The iPod USB port is located towards the right of the panel.

To get a better idea of the Denon AVR-2112CI’s audio capabilities, we used Layla by Derek and the Dominos played back using the Oppo BDP-93. With this remastered SACD, Layla improved on what was already an excellent album by enhancing the quality of it. Vocals were perfectly lucid while Clapton’s incredible blues guitar playing could be heard distinctly apart in separate speakers from Allman. The piano, organs and Gordon’s drumming also stood out. Vocals from “Tell the Truth”, which was previously blurry were now sharp and crisp sounding. The title track “Layla” was a perfect representation of the qualities of the album with Clapton’s searing Stratocaster hitting every single high note and vocals, further complemented by the intensity of the backup vocals. The overall experience was exceptional.
