The Denon AVR-1912 is the latest mid-range receiver and it replaces theAVR-1911. The Denon AVR-1912, like the rest of the Denon, renders outstanding sound quality. It is also one of the most full-featured receivers at this price point.
This is a 90-watt per channel receiver and has discrete, power and quality for each of its 7 channels. The AVR-1912 has support for AirPlay and 3D Video as well. It has a host of networking capabilities so you can enjoy for your other devices.
Design and Connectivity
The Denon AVR-1912 is a full-sized receiver with a rounder edge. Its matte black finish gives a softer, which very well can prevent fingerprinting. This receiver has a clean overall look with a few buttons for convenience.
At first glance, you will find the volume control to your right. There several traditional buttons to the bottom of the display screen. There is, of course the power button on the left of the panel. The headphone jack sits closely next to it. You will also have access to the Zone 2 controls and tuner presents right beside it as well. The AVR-1912 has conveniently put in buttons to access the different sound modes.
Moving towards the right of the panel, you will find buttons to access Internet Radio and you can have 3 presets for it. The iPod compatible USB port is located on the rightmost corner of the panel. Here, you can also find the auxiliary inputs and the setup mic input.

You can listen to sounds on blu-ray in Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. The Dolby Pro Logic IIz will add more dimension to your sound stage. This includes the vertical and horizontal direction. You can also assign the SBL or SBR power amp from the 2 back surround channels to the 2 front height channels. You will be able to have multi-room audio sound or 2-channel stereo playback. There is an also front bi-amping capability. There is Main Zone Pre-amps outputs but no analogue pre-outs.

The Denon AVR-1912 lets you listen to an array of music in different formats including FLAC HD. An interesting feature is the Compressed Audio Restorer. Formats like MP£, AAC, WMA are typical compressed data. They are high frequency signal data is substantially deleted as the data signals are compressed. This restoring feature interpolates and generates the missing data that was lost. It fine-tunes the data so that it renders sounds as close to the original as possible. The quality, however, is limited to the quality of the original source.

This wild west vampire theme has created a deliberate dark and somewhat colorless atmosphere. But the reds and blues were deep and well saturated. Blacks were luscious and rich. Contrast was superb. You would easily decipher shadows from the dark robes. Vampires in dark robes running through the dark hive were easily seen. Hair and fabric texture was very clear. Facial wrinkles, blemishes, or dirt from the vampire hive chase was very vivid.
When there was a showdown in the bright sunlight, the whites are bright. Depth and separation created dimension that would make you feel like you are part of the scene. Objects and broken plates thrown across popped out at you. There was very little crosstalk and picture quality is excellent.
The audio from the soundtrack was full of ambient effect. You would hear the wind blowing or the cape flapping. Conversations were crystal clear. Directionality was awesome. There was good channel separation and movement.
The Denon AVR-1912 is great at delivering sound surround that envelopes you. When you are listening to Deep Purple, bass is rich and deep. Sound dimension and separation are excellent. Rear or front effects are lively. Sound surround panning is accurate and fast. The results rendered on the AVR-1912 are exciting and dynamic.
